Five finger test

Hi, today in our reading time we look at how the five finger test works. Have you every bought a book or been given a book and found it to difficult to read. Well the five finger test will help you.

The five finger test works like this.....
1) Open the book and select a page at random.
2) Look at the words on the page , if you see 5 words you do not know

then this book will be to difficult for you to read.

3) Place your finger and thumb on each the words you do not know.

Now read two books briefly and write a short review.

The story I read is called ‘Chanda’s Secret’ by Alan Stratton. It’s a very sad and true story about a girl named Chanda. At her sixteen age Chanda was very sick of secrets and silence. People in her family are dying and her mother is sick plus her sister is rebelling.
‘As I read the first interesting chapter it made me start to cry and want to carry on reading.’
Everybody in her town are talking about her best friend, but will she be brave enough to tear down the curtain and stand up for the people she loves?
My blurb, by Dorothy Tuala.
Chanda’s Secret is a story about life, love and hard-one hopefulness.
